Our grand finale event, including the premiere of the film of the project by Stephen Mackay, went down a treat with families joining the children from the summer project and a load of volunteers coming together. The learning and fun continued with seaweed activities such as dressing up as seaweed and making seaweed herbarium as proper botanists like Stackhouse did back in 18th century. Families also painted pictures of seaweed and saw seaweed for real, close up and personal under the microscope and all the childrens 206 photos from their underwater camera work in the summer were strung up on netting around the church.

Displays relating to Stackhouses life told of his eminence as a botanist and connections with smugglers including the Carter family.  We were chuffed to bits that Jane Darke made it to the event since the project had been inspired by Nick’s play ’King of Prussia’.
